Miller Park fundraiser

It is never too early to think baseball, specifically Brewer’s baseball.  The contract has been signed, submitted. All available training and games have now been posted to a spreadsheet on gmail.

If you are interested in working a Brewer game to offset hockey fees, now is the time to sign up. The link below will take you to a spreadsheet that lists available training dates. The first step that you will need to take in order to be able to participate is determine the date you would like to attend training. You will not be able to sign up for games until you have committed to a training date. Training dates do fill up quickly, and requests will be handled on a first come, first served basis.

Training dates

If you have any questions, email  WCYHAMILLERPARK@gmail.com

Once you have determined the date you would like to attend training, reply to WCYHAMILLERPARK@gmail.com and a confirmation notification will be sent as soon as Miller Park verifies availibility of date.

Once that you are confirmed for training it is time to take the next step towards the money you can earn being a volunteer for Miller Park (SPORTSERVICE).  Please read the below and understand the commitment you are making when you reply with the dates of the games you would like to be contracted for. If the game has enough workers, you will be listed as an alternate.  Alternates will not be required to work, but will provide an option to committed workers if there is a circumstance beyond their control and they need to find a replacement.

Please note:  You have requested a training date and it has been confirmed.  If we do not provide a 36 hour notice that you will not be in attendance, you will personally be responsible for paying a $10.00 no show fee.

A day in the life of a volunteer for Miller Park concession stand:

You will be scheduled to arrive approximately two hours prior to game time.  If you are late 30 minutes or more you will be personally charged $50.00.  If you do not show you will be personally charged $75.00.  Once you commit to a game via email to WCYHAMillerPark@gmail.com  you are responsible for finding a replacement if you are unable to uphold your commitment.  No exceptions!

Upon arrival at the designated Spahn parking lot, you will make the trek to the North Dock at Miller Park.  The walk is approximately ½ mile.  You will be provided a shirt to use that will be turned in after each game.  You will need to wear black dress pants or shorts and rubber soled shoes.  You will also need to purchase a WCYHA hat from the organization.  The hat must be worn at all times.

Once you have checked in with a government issued ID (DL), you will proceed to the stand we are assigned. You will be responsible for helping to set up the stand to be ready when the gates for Miller Park open.  Duties could include filling condiment stations, slicing garnish, filling ice for soda, grilling, cleaning the stand and much, much more.  Once gates are open, you will be assigned a duty by the cash manager representing WCYHA for the day.  Most workers will be assigned a register.  Other duties include grilling, bartender or runner.

Gates open and hopefully you are busy for the next 3 hours.  You will not be able to use your cell phone.  Most stands do not even provide a place to sit.  When there is a lull in action, you may take a break and enjoy your choice of sausage at no charge.

Last out of seventh inning alcohol sales are done.  Tappers are taken off the beer and cash registers are shut down one by one. Brewer’s win (hopefully) and game is over.  Now it is time to clean all dishes, condiment stand, and prepare the stand for the next game. Your drawer will be balanced.  Tips will be split evenly with all workers. The Stand Manager for Miller Park will check to see if all items are taken care of and you will be released to take the hike back to your car.

The group will receive a percentage of the profits for the stand.  The commission is based on GROSS SALES MINUS APPLICABLE SALES TAX AND ANY CASH AND INVENTORY SHORTAGES INCURRED BY THE GROUP, EQUALING OVER 1% OF GROSS SALES.  Overages will not be paid. Miller Park reviews all stands and verifies inventory counts.  They will provide a check to WCYHA that will be split evenly between all workers.  The money will then be held in your account and will be applied to invoices sent to cover your skater’s fees for the 2014-2015 hockey season.

When you have accepted the above terms, feel free to send an email specifying which games you are committing to work.  Games are filled on a first come - first served basis.  The game tab lists games.  Please reply with the dates of the games you would like to work or be listed as an alternate.  We will complete the spreadsheet with your selections.
