WCYHA Coaching Committee Representatives

COACHES COMMITTEE STRUCTURE

There will be seven Coaches Committee (CC) members, with a representative from each level: Mini -Mite, Mite, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam, Ace Coordinator

  • The President or VP On Ice may assume the role of the ACE Coordinator.

  • The Vice President On Ice is a member and chairman of the Coaches Committee.

  • All on ice complaints and disciplinary or conduct issues will be handled in a collaborative effort by the CC Level Representative and the Level Director, informing the President and VP On-Ice and appropriate Board members of all issues that arise. CC Representative will participate in any disciplinary hearings for their level.


COACHING COMMITTEE PURPOSE
To offer on ice expertise and recommendations to the WCYHA Board of Directors for the purpose of providing quality and enjoyable hockey experiences consistent with the mission of WCYHA in a safe and educational environment for all WCYHA youth hockey participants.

 CC LEVEL REPRESENTATIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Require that the candidate must have been a Head Coach of a youth hockey team for a minimum of one year OR a minimum of two years coaching experience with the WCYHA organization, except for the 6U level. All candidates must have a current level appropriate USA Hockey coaching certificate as outlined by USA Hockey and WAHA for their level. Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge in the area of ice hockey and possess individual attributes of integrity, leadership, and effective communication skills and show an appreciation for the core values of WCYHA.
 
CC LEVEL REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
The CC Representative will coordinate and implement on ice needs for tryouts as directed by the WCYHA Board of Directors and the approved tryout procedures. The CC Representative will communicate effectively for coordination with specific Board Members for providing a fair and well carried out tryout process. The CC Rep will attend all tryout sessions they are designated for. The CC Representative will maintain honesty, integrity and fairness to all WCYHA participants while carrying out their functions during the tryout process and throughout their one year term. The CC Representative will be responsible for enforcement of the USA Hockey and WAHA requirement of appropriate Certification level of coaches for practices and games at their level. CC Representative will assist the VP On Ice and ultimately the WCYHA Board of Directors by providing feedback and communication regarding coaching and other on ice concerns and needs that arise at their level throughout the season. Also vital is communication with specific Level Director which is encouraged throughout the season. The CC Representatives will have 2-3 meetings during the season with the level director, and additional as needed. CC Representative will demonstrate an understanding, be supportive of, and maintain compliance with all USA Hockey, WAHA and WCYHA policies, procedures and the mission of WCYHA. CC Representative will assist the coaches at their level in a smooth transition from tryouts to beginning team practices as necessary and assist with needs and concerns throughout the season.

APPLICATION AND APPOINTMENT PROCESS
Candidates must apply by filling out the online application.
VP On Ice who shall present applicant information and recommendations to the Board.
Candidates are nominated by the Vice President On - Ice for a one year term (May -April), and are approved by the full Board of Directors at the May meeting.
